IRLP node# 4904 (WD4HIM)
IRLP is finally setup and working as of 10-17-06. As of 11-28-06 EchoIRLP has been installed to ensure that no cross linking can take place between Echolink and IRLP and to make use of only one computer and radio.
If you are interested in installing an EchoIRLP node you should first setup an IRLP node and get it working first then use the EchoIRLP install script to install EchoIRLP. The latest scripts can be found on the Yahoo EchoIRLP group.
The IRLP node is normally connected 24 hours a day to Reflector 9050, the Western New York Interlink Repeater System run by WB2JPQ. Feel free to disconnect and connect to another node of your choice. When you are done please disconnect, the node will auto-reconnect to 9050 after 10 minutes of idle time.
For NORMAL repeater use I usually leave the repeater in setup code 332 (monitor mode non-cross linking and short hang time). Monitor mode allows internet monitoring without local traffic being sent out over the internet. EchoIRLP access mode (331) allows conversation with Echolink/IRLP remote users. Use of a 103.5 hz tone is required to access the repeater.
When using the IRLP link system the operator should first ID and say something like "N4XYZ Accessing IRLP" then the operator should be sure the Repeater is in internet mode by sending DTMF 331 and wait for the "OK" in CW to confirm, then send DTMF tones 411 for info on the link status or click on the STATUS link above. After that if it's not connected you can send your 4 digit node number to connect to a remote IRLP node or Reflector. After connecting the node to another node or reflector the station should key his/her microphone for 2 seconds before speaking, this gives other Repeaters time to come up on air. Be sure to leave a pause between transmissions to allow others to break in.
When the operator is done using the IRLP he/she should use DTMF "73" to disconnect from the node or reflector. If you do not hear the goodbye message from the node or reflector you are still connected and should try and send DTMF "73" again. After disconnecting from the node/reflector the operator should again ID and say something like "N4XYZ clear with IRLP". This lets other operators of the system know you are turning the repeater back to local operations. The node will automatically re-connect to Reflector 9050 after 10 minutes of idle time.
Nodes are individual stations, reflectors are similar to conference rooms used on Echolink. One difference is IRLP Reflectors have multiple room numbers. Some are reserved for specific use. Check the Network Summary status page for more info on each reflector and its rooms. Standard IRLP commands are used. Click here for more info on IRLP. Any questions email me at or call me on the repeater.
Visit the IRLP Network Summary page for a list of available reflectors to connect to.
Some of the other commands include:
411 for Status Check.
*69 to Re-connect to the last node that was connected.
If your radio has dtmf memories you can program them for easier use and as a notepad for commonly used nodes.
Any questions email me at or call me on the repeater (444.125, tone 103.5).
